The Doctor was, though one would never hear him admit it, rather giddy. His hands flew lightly over the console, setting coordinates with cheerful confidence. India, 2007. He wasn't too specific; no need to press his luck, and they could find other ways of travel once they arrived. See where the current matches were being played.

Perhaps they could take a train. He hadn't done that since the werewolves, and that was hardly a leisurely ride.

"Winter, then," he murmured, brow furrowed slightly in concentration, though a faint smile lingered on his lips.

Nyssa wanted to go, for him. Perhaps he shouldn't feel so incredibly touched by that, but he did.

He was determined, absolutely determined, that the three of them would have an enjoyable, relaxing time of it. No murder investigations, no devious plots uncovered, no sinister invaders thwarted.

It would be their first trip together since being reunited, and they were going to have fun.

"Oh, don't say that," the Doctor chided. "Perfect way to ensure us being embroiled in a plot to destroy the universe."

He reached across to reach a particular button and then they were dematerialising, and he glanced back at his friends as if to see what they thought. It had been a long time since they'd done this together - only once, with the three of them.

Turlough groaned. "Honestly. If that happens and one of us has to be a sacrifice or spend the entire plot tied up? I'm nudging Nyssa towards them. Thank you for jinxing us."

And he smiled then and pushed a hand through his hair. "This is it then. This is the start."

"Well! Some friend you are, Turlough." Nyssa snapped, playfully still. "You don't believe in such superstition, do you? That's silly."

She beamed and offered a hand to either of the men. "This is it." She agreed.

"If it comes to that I promise I'll take my turn at being bound in a cellar."

He took Nyssa's hand without hesitation, offering his other hand to Turlough.

"A fine beginning, I think," he said softly.

"And leave us to the universe saving? No thank you. ...Though I'm sure Nyssa could figure something out. Eventually."

Turlough paused before he joined hands with his friends. What an odd trio. But it was right somehow.

"Couldn't agree more. Aren't we getting a bit sentimental though?" Not that he was complaining.

"You'll find, Turlough, that I'm quite capable." Nyssa assured with a mock-offended tone. "Quick and clever enough. If all else failed I could rescue the Doctor from a cellar. I've done it before."

She gave each of the men's hands a squeeze.

"We're in this together."

"I'm glad to know my freedom is in competent hands," the Doctor said lightly. His faint smile spoke of his sincerity, his confidence in his companions.

"For quite some time, I hope," he said softly.

"I think we'll make quite a team."

"You have not." Turlough argued, for the sake of arguing one should imagine. And he smiled a bit, just a bit.

Turlough gave the Doctor's hand a tight grip. "For as long as you would like."

"I agree. Not a human aboard."

"I did. Tell him that I did, Doctor." Nyssa argued in turn, with a serious tone that didn't match the playful glint in her eyes.

Nyssa nodded her agreement. "Quite some time indeed if I have my way."

"Turlough." Nyssa warned, tucking a curl behind her ear. "One of my very good friends is human and they're very capable."

"She ended up rescuing me the first time we met," the Doctor agreed, nodding gravely.

"And I'll agree with that as well," he said sternly, though he squeezed Turlough's hand in turn.

"Many of my very good friends have been capable humans."

"And here I thought that Nyssa of Traken was the damsel in distress." Turlough drawled, gathering her up in one arm.

He smiled then, genuinely and brightly smiled. "For quite some time then."

"That's an oxymoron, Doctor."

"Hardly. I manage very well, I think." She wrapped on arm around Turlough with a grin.

"Let's not start. Even teasing, let's not begin that. We should enjoy ourselves and the time we've stolen."

He hadn't seen that smile often and he cherished the sight of it, the opportunity of new memories.

"Oh, I wouldn't stay stolen. You can't take Time without it's permission, I'm sure." He gently drew away from them as the TARDIS landed, simply watching the two for a moment before gesturing broadly to the door.

"Ladies first, then, isn't it?"

"I was unaware Time had feelings." Turlough said and when the Doctor pulled from him he used the free hand to fuss with his tie absently before letting Nyssa go and nudging her.

"Off you go then, Nyssa. Tell us if you really have jinxed us."

"I think I quite agree with you, Doctor. So we should...enjoy the Time we have been given and be grateful that it has been so kind as to throw us back together." Nyssa said with a nod.

She grinned then and moved to the door, pushing it open and peering out. "Well. So far it seems safe. Come on then."

"A great many things have feelings, Turlough," the Doctor said, pulling a rather crumpled hat from his pocket.

He worked it back into its proper shape as he followed, setting it on his head as he stepped out into the light.

He'd tried for February, and the crisp but mild cold seemed to account for that.

"We should be in West Bengal, near Kolkata."

"Including inanimate objects and natural occurrences, apparently." Turlough said, wryly.

Turlough followed the Doctor, bringing up the rear and shut the door behind him as he surveyed his surroundings. He crossed his arms over his chest and moved forward a bit.

"Should I be amazed that you seem to have gotten it right?" He asked, good natured under protective sarcasm.

"Well of course you wouldn't understand." Nyssa joked, though she seemed to feel bad about it when she wrapped her arms about him for a moment.

She looked over her shoulder and smiled to the pair of them. "It's cold." But of course this would be true for her given that her body was accustomed to Traken's warm climate, and then Terminus' controlled temperatures.

"He gets it right just as much as he gets it wrong." Nyssa laughed. "We always end up where we're needed when things go awry."

"Thank you, Nyssa," the Doctor said, giving Turlough an indignant look. It was ruined a bit by the amusement in his eyes. He'd rather missed that sarcasm; Peri certainly gave it a go but it wasn't the same.

"Cold, do you think so? Feels perfectly nice to me." Accordingly, he slipped off his coat and offered it to Nyssa, old memories curving his lips.

He started a bit at the contact but then grinned and wrapped an arm around his friend, releasing her when she released him. "Well, you have to admit that we go off quite a bit."

"It's not that cold. Just a bit chilly for these parts, isn't it?"

From: [identity profile] of-traken.livejournal.com
"It's part of the adventure isn't it? Besides, could we fully appreciate this if we hadn't experienced everything else?" She gestured about her and gave a careful spin, graceful and happy.

"I'm not used to the chill." She admitted, and she accepted the coat with lowered eyes, "Thank you, Doctor."

"Good points all," he said, tipping his hat in response to Nyssa's gratitude. He was smiling again.

"Come on, then, we've a bit of a walk ahead of us." He paused then, brow furrowing slightly, before offering both of his hands.

It was a rather silly impulse, really, but...no, that didn't matter.

From: [identity profile] trion-exile.livejournal.com
"Fine, fine. I concede. If it weren't for nearly getting killed, or always getting tied up etcetera, etcetera, we wouldn't be able to enjoy something silly like a cricket match." He watched her spin, smiled a bit and adjusted his tie and coat.

"Beige really is your color, you know." Turlough said and he moved to accept the Doctor's hand.

"Walking, right. Better get to it."

Nyssa shrugged with care into the coat which was a bit big on her lithe frame and moved her dark curls over the collar.

"Where are we walking to?" She asked as she took up the Doctor's other hand

The feel of their hands in his - it was oddly soothing. It had been so long, and he could still barely believe they were with him again.

He wanted to hold on.

"The train station, I hope," he said cheerfully.
