The Doctor was, though one would never hear him admit it, rather giddy. His hands flew lightly over the console, setting coordinates with cheerful confidence. India, 2007. He wasn't too specific; no need to press his luck, and they could find other ways of travel once they arrived. See where the current matches were being played.
Perhaps they could take a train. He hadn't done that since the werewolves, and that was hardly a leisurely ride.
"Winter, then," he murmured, brow furrowed slightly in concentration, though a faint smile lingered on his lips.
Nyssa wanted to go, for him. Perhaps he shouldn't feel so incredibly touched by that, but he did.
He was determined, absolutely determined, that the three of them would have an enjoyable, relaxing time of it. No murder investigations, no devious plots uncovered, no sinister invaders thwarted.
It would be their first trip together since being reunited, and they were going to have fun.

She hovered near him in the console room, watching him with interest and a soft smile.
Finally she speaks. "Well?"
And her smile makes her face light up.
no subject
He didn't mind, of course. He was simply being difficult for the sake of being difficult, though he had no intentions of keeping it up for long. He was back. He was with the Doctor and Nyssa again and he had no interest in ruining things.
"Why India? Certainly Britain is as good a place as any?"
no subject
"You want to go to Britain, Turlough?" he asked as he glanced at his friend, raising his eyebrows. The quirk of his lips was teasing, now.
no subject
And then her tone is apologetic. "It's likely not going to be as fun for you as Cranleigh Halt...You'd probably rather play than watch but I thought it would be nice..."
She rounded on Turlough then and grinned. "Come now, it will be fun."
no subject
"I don't really care. India is as good as anywhere on Earth I suppose." Turlough smiled a bit then, just a quirk of the lips and moved to peer at the coordinates as well.
"You're sure this was Nyssa's idea, Doctor?"
no subject
"Yes, Turlough, fun. I'm sure you're acquainted with the idea?" When he looked up his eyes were sparkling with humour, with fondness.
"I am quite sure, thank you." He thought he managed indignance rather way.
no subject
"I think you brainwashed her." the man joked.
no subject
"Brainwashed? I think I would know if he had." She tsked. "I thought we'd simply start things off with something simple, that we could enjoy. There's not much that could go wrong at a cricket match."
no subject
He reached across to reach a particular button and then they were dematerialising, and he glanced back at his friends as if to see what they thought. It had been a long time since they'd done this together - only once, with the three of them.
no subject
And he smiled then and pushed a hand through his hair. "This is it then. This is the start."
no subject
She beamed and offered a hand to either of the men. "This is it." She agreed.
no subject
He took Nyssa's hand without hesitation, offering his other hand to Turlough.
"A fine beginning, I think," he said softly.
no subject
Turlough paused before he joined hands with his friends. What an odd trio. But it was right somehow.
"Couldn't agree more. Aren't we getting a bit sentimental though?" Not that he was complaining.
no subject
She gave each of the men's hands a squeeze.
"We're in this together."
no subject
"For quite some time, I hope," he said softly.
"I think we'll make quite a team."
no subject
Turlough gave the Doctor's hand a tight grip. "For as long as you would like."
"I agree. Not a human aboard."
no subject
Nyssa nodded her agreement. "Quite some time indeed if I have my way."
"Turlough." Nyssa warned, tucking a curl behind her ear. "One of my very good friends is human and they're very capable."
no subject
"And I'll agree with that as well," he said sternly, though he squeezed Turlough's hand in turn.
"Many of my very good friends have been capable humans."
no subject
He smiled then, genuinely and brightly smiled. "For quite some time then."
"That's an oxymoron, Doctor."
no subject
"Let's not start. Even teasing, let's not begin that. We should enjoy ourselves and the time we've stolen."
no subject
"Oh, I wouldn't stay stolen. You can't take Time without it's permission, I'm sure." He gently drew away from them as the TARDIS landed, simply watching the two for a moment before gesturing broadly to the door.
"Ladies first, then, isn't it?"
no subject
"Off you go then, Nyssa. Tell us if you really have jinxed us."
no subject
She grinned then and moved to the door, pushing it open and peering out. "Well. So far it seems safe. Come on then."
no subject
He worked it back into its proper shape as he followed, setting it on his head as he stepped out into the light.
He'd tried for February, and the crisp but mild cold seemed to account for that.
"We should be in West Bengal, near Kolkata."
no subject
Turlough followed the Doctor, bringing up the rear and shut the door behind him as he surveyed his surroundings. He crossed his arms over his chest and moved forward a bit.
"Should I be amazed that you seem to have gotten it right?" He asked, good natured under protective sarcasm.
