The Doctor had kneeled down to begin repairing some damaged circuity in the console.

Then he couldn't get up again.

There was an indignant mew in the folds of his clothing before a pale head emerged, followed soon after by a small furry body.

Well. You did have to be careful what you wished for. After a resigned look at his tools the Doctor trotted over to the doors and peeked outside.

"You, Doctor, are in no position to be challenging me." Turlough pointed out. "Thank goodness the TARDIS isn't in motion, I'm not sure what I would do then."

He kneeled after a moment and offered his hand to the kitten. "You are the Doctor, aren't you?"

The kitten looked up in what the Doctor thought was a passable aproxmination of rolling his eyes.

Then he walked forward and licked Turlough's fingers. That was an answer, wasn't it?

"Wonderful. A cat is trying to assert its superiority over me." He mused, sighing as he ran a hand through ginger hair.

Her moved to run his hand over the kitten's head. "Well, Doctor. You and Nyssa are under my jurisdiction until you're Time lord and Trakenite again. I won't risk losing the pair of you."

The Doctor was touched by that despite himself, and nuzzled Turlough's hand in an attempt to show it. Communication would take some working out but he thought he was managing it admirably.

"Yes, yes, I know. I have my moments." Turlough sighed, moving to scratch the kitten behind the ears.

"I'm not even a cat person, and yet now I have two of them."

He mewed apologetially, even as he closed his eyes and leaned into the touch. This, he decided, was quite nice despite the acute disadvantages.

Maybe Turlough would turn into a kitten too? The thought normally would have alarmed him, but at the moment he was excited over how they could play together.

"It's fine." He said with a sigh, leaning back and pulling the kitten with him.

Who would watch out for the Doctor and Nyssa then? Someone needed to be normal, able to care for the kittens and be sure they didn't get into any trouble. "What to do, Doctor? This is ridiculous."

The Doctor started, naturally, to kneed Turlough's chest.

His eyes widened at the question, the closest he could get to shrugging.

Turlough kept up his attention to the kitten, careful and considerate.

"You get into the most terrible." He kissed the blonde kitten's head and looked upwards, absently.

He began to purr, which could be a reaction to the words or the gesture or both. Really, though, he didn't think the situation was all the terrible.
