Cat's Cradle
The Doctor had kneeled down to begin repairing some damaged circuity in the console.
Then he couldn't get up again.
There was an indignant mew in the folds of his clothing before a pale head emerged, followed soon after by a small furry body.
Well. You did have to be careful what you wished for. After a resigned look at his tools the Doctor trotted over to the doors and peeked outside.

When she saw the TARDIS, she got very confused, because she wasn't lost and it should be back that way somewhere. But it was here.
She crept cautiously through the grass, eyeing it warily.

She mewed inquisitively, delicately stretching forward to sniff at his nose.

It was a bit undercut by the purring.

But still, she smiled at it and bent down to offer a hand. "Did the Doctor pick you up?"

"Cats don't generally shake their heads."
no subject
He tilted his head up, mewing in agreement.

Bending down is starting to get tiring, so Sarah Jane gently picks up the kitten in her arms to continue scritching his head. She still prefers dogs, but it's soft and cute, and that mewing is rather adorable.
She laughs for a moment, making a face at him. "You must think I'm silly, talking to a cat. It's just that I was expecting the Doctor to come out of the TARDIS, not you."

This is followed by a meow that he hopes is somewhere between amusement and aggravation but can't be sure. It's a bit frustrating. He misses his voice.

Of course, she wouldn't take him without the Doctor's permission. Where ever he was.

He moved to the thing, using his foot to guide the kitten back into the TARDIS. "Stay. Put."
And he moved to close the doors.

He stayed put, but managed to look annoyed.

He kneeled after a moment and offered his hand to the kitten. "You are the Doctor, aren't you?"
no subject
Then he walked forward and licked Turlough's fingers. That was an answer, wasn't it?
no subject
Her moved to run his hand over the kitten's head. "Well, Doctor. You and Nyssa are under my jurisdiction until you're Time lord and Trakenite again. I won't risk losing the pair of you."

"I'm not even a cat person, and yet now I have two of them."
no subject
Maybe Turlough would turn into a kitten too? The thought normally would have alarmed him, but at the moment he was excited over how they could play together.
