"We need help, Doctor." Peri's voice trembled, only slightly. Erimem's head turned feverishly in her lap; she held a wet cloth against her forehead that the Doctor had soaked in a stream reflecting a red sun.
He nodded absently, focused on creating a fire with unfamiliar kindling. He didn't even know what kind of smoke signals there were here, if they were even recognised as such, but he had to try.
They were in a clearing, full of pale grass that turned to sparse shades in the gloomy night. They'd been running before Erimem collapsed, and it was daylight when the Doctor carried her here, Peri alert and anxious at his side.
They were both tired, hungry, worried out of their minds. If they were found it might well be by the wrong people.
They couldn't take the chance of waiting until morning, of resting and recovering. He didn't know what was wrong, how serious it was, how fast it worked.
He worked in relative silence for a time, punctured only by clashing wood and ghostly wind and deep breaths.
"Doctor, I know you don't like guns but I did manage to grab this thing and–"
"I'll show you the stun setting," he murmured.
"...Right. Good. When?"
"When I get this fire going!" he shouted, turning to glare at her before his expression softened.
"I'm...sorry, Peri." She swallowed, and nodded, and took one of his hands.
"We'll be okay. She'll...she'll be okay." He offered a faint, assuring smile and set back to work.
"I trust you," a hopeful whisper on the fretful wind, and he could only hope it wasn't misplaced.

Re: ooc
Date: 2007-04-17 01:00 am (UTC)Evil!Five: *smile widens* Well, it's kind of you to grant them such.
Re: ooc
Date: 2007-04-17 02:11 am (UTC)Methos: I thought so...
((......tell me to stop listening to Rent while walking and having the Doctor (either of them) and Aislinn in my head doing "Light My Candle". "I should tell you" is cute, but. Err...that's just...too adorable))
Re: ooc
Date: 2007-04-17 02:18 am (UTC)Evil!Five: What might you have been doing, then, while they slept?
((Stop right now, young lady!))
Re: ooc
Date: 2007-04-17 02:28 am (UTC)Methos: *enigmatic smile*
((But...but... the cuteness:
"They say that I have the best ass below 14th Street, is it true?"
"..W-w-what?"
"You're staring again."
"Oh, no. I mean, you do, have a nice...a.--I mean. You look familiar."
*goes to grab dinner, be on in a sec*))
Re: ooc
Date: 2007-04-17 02:34 am (UTC)Evil!Five: *grins, stepping closer, hands behind his back* Come now, you'll have me curious for decades.
((*dies* I can't protest that.
Hooray!))
Re: ooc
Date: 2007-04-17 02:47 am (UTC)Methos: *soft laugh* Curiosity is good for you.
(("Do you go to the Cat Scratch Club, that's where I work, I dance."
"Yeeeeeeees. They used to tie you up...."
"It's a living..."
"I didn't recognize you without the handcuffs...."
I mean, come on. Can't you see it? *g*
*has mother on phone....*))
Re: ooc
Date: 2007-04-17 03:52 am (UTC)Evil!Five: Not if it's never sated! Then it's simply frustrating.
((Yes, I can, and it's all your fault.))
Re: ooc
Date: 2007-04-17 04:03 am (UTC)Methos: *purrs* I never said I wouldn't sate it eventually.
((*beams* COME BACK!))
Re: ooc
Date: 2007-04-17 01:16 pm (UTC)Evil!Five: *eyes widen slightly, lips curling* Oh?
((I DID BUT YOU WEREN'T THERE. *weeps*))
Re: ooc
Date: 2007-04-17 02:11 pm (UTC)Methos: *half-smile* Oh, indeed.
((*wails* Everyone went away, so I went to bed...))
Re: ooc
Date: 2007-04-18 03:58 am (UTC)Evil!Five: You'll keep me waiting, will you?
((*has Five pout at you*))
Re: ooc
Date: 2007-04-18 04:05 am (UTC)Methos: Anticipation is half the fun.
((*flails at the pout*))
Re: ooc
Date: 2007-04-18 07:38 pm (UTC)Evil!Five: Provided it doesn't carry on too long.
((Five: *comforts* ... Mun: *whaps him*))
Re: ooc
Date: 2007-04-18 07:44 pm (UTC)Methos: Ah, but how long is too long to such as us?
((*curls up on him, sniffly, hating on 'net* *lets the kitten meow*))
Re: ooc
Date: 2007-04-18 07:52 pm (UTC)Evil!Five: You're lucky I've managed to lengthen my attention span.
Jab at the normal Doctors? Nah. ;p
((Five: *holds and pats and hates on it right with you* *snuggles the kitty, too* ...That icon. XD))
Re: ooc
Date: 2007-04-18 07:58 pm (UTC)Methos: Or you are. It doesn't affect me much at all, really, does it?
((She's being pathetic again. And apparently chattering at birds and wanting to pounce them? *eyes kitty warily* *pets icon lots* I love Methos' icons so...))
Re: ooc
Date: 2007-04-18 08:02 pm (UTC)Evil!Five: Why bother at all, then?
((Five gives her a stern look - amid the petting - and says the birds haven't done anything to her.))
Re: ooc
Date: 2007-04-18 08:05 pm (UTC)Methos: I'm easily amused.
((She sits down and takes a bath? This seems to be her standard response to scolding))
Re: ooc
Date: 2007-04-19 05:36 pm (UTC)Evil!Five: And I'm often too curious for my own good. *wryly* Fate has brought us together, I'm sure.
((It's a good response, really, because Five's too busy smiling at the cute to go on.))
Re: ooc
Date: 2007-04-19 05:38 pm (UTC)Methos: *grins* So it seems.
((Awwwwwwwwww. See, that's what she wants to hear. Though honestly, I don't think she's ever going to want to change back. She's off comforting Byron as a kitten even))
Re: ooc
Date: 2007-04-19 09:54 pm (UTC)Evil!Five: *grins back* Rather nice of her, really. I do admit I enjoy pretty puzzles.
((Five says he likes her even better as a person? ...Awwww. Is it working?))
Re: ooc
Date: 2007-04-19 10:07 pm (UTC)Methos: *chuckles* Do you?
((Awwww. She thinks that's too complicated, I think. She's not being rational, being a kitten. And they fell asleep on the sofa together, with her purring, so I think it worked?
http://the-corsair.livejournal.com/42255.html?thread=1698575#t1698575 ))
Re: ooc
Date: 2007-04-19 10:21 pm (UTC)Evil!Five: *the grin widens* Very much.
((He understands. ...Awwwww.))
Re: ooc
Date: 2007-04-19 10:23 pm (UTC)Methos: *beams* Excellent.
((*pets him* I know. They're too cute.))
Re: ooc
Date: 2007-04-19 10:38 pm (UTC)Evil!Five: Would you mind terribly offering a poor Time Lord some pieces?
((They are! After reading that prompt I want to hug him. ...So does Five, actually. Well. An awkward pat on the shoulder at least.))
