Oncoming Storms Prompt 2 - Distress Signal

"We need help, Doctor." Peri's voice trembled, only slightly. Erimem's head turned feverishly in her lap; she held a wet cloth against her forehead that the Doctor had soaked in a stream reflecting a red sun.

He nodded absently, focused on creating a fire with unfamiliar kindling. He didn't even know what kind of smoke signals there were here, if they were even recognised as such, but he had to try.

They were in a clearing, full of pale grass that turned to sparse shades in the gloomy night. They'd been running before Erimem collapsed, and it was daylight when the Doctor carried her here, Peri alert and anxious at his side.

They were both tired, hungry, worried out of their minds. If they were found it might well be by the wrong people.

They couldn't take the chance of waiting until morning, of resting and recovering. He didn't know what was wrong, how serious it was, how fast it worked.

He worked in relative silence for a time, punctured only by clashing wood and ghostly wind and deep breaths.

"Doctor, I know you don't like guns but I did manage to grab this thing and–"

"I'll show you the stun setting," he murmured.

"...Right. Good. When?"

"When I get this fire going!" he shouted, turning to glare at her before his expression softened.

"I'm...sorry, Peri." She swallowed, and nodded, and took one of his hands.

"We'll be okay. She'll...she'll be okay." He offered a faint, assuring smile and set back to work.

"I trust you," a hopeful whisper on the fretful wind, and he could only hope it wasn't misplaced.

Re: ooc

*squeeks and giggles* I'm glad to be here. (Five made me. Can't very well resist those eyes.)

Re: ooc

[identity profile] thecricketer.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
He'll try to use his powers for good? That goes for the pouting, too.

Martha is rolling her eyes at me?

Re: ooc

[identity profile] notquiteadoctor.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
She says she has a younger brother. She's good at resisting pouts.

Re: ooc

[identity profile] thecricketer.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
He contemplates the puppy eyes, decides against it, and offers a bright, charming smile. He would like to mention that he does not compare companions but his mun keeps whapping him on the head.

Re: ooc

[identity profile] notquiteadoctor.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
She's still not sure how she feels about different men running 'round all saying they're the Doctor, but smiles back because he seems nice enough. *giggles lots*

Meanwhile the kitten is hiding from the tiger, I have, err, hushpuppies for lunch and Melissa is once again ignoring her wounds.

Re: ooc

[identity profile] thecricketer.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
The Doctor says it's all rather complicated but he's they're a trustworthy bunch and generally friendly.

The kitten is smart, hushpuppies can be tasty, and evil!Five is on his way to get an umbrella. He gives her a look of concerned consternation.

Re: ooc

[identity profile] notquiteadoctor.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 07:39 pm (UTC)(link)
She thinks they're all a completely mad bunch, but hasn't found a reason yet to distrust them.

The kitten is, they were (weird craving? no idea. wanted hushpuppies?), awwwwwwww. *pets Evil!Five* Yeah, I bap her and tell her to at least put cream on before tending to Ace.

Re: ooc

[identity profile] thecricketer.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
He smiles sheepishly and says they are a bit, but there's usually a method to the madness.

(We all have weird cravings? I think I want them now.) Evil!Five gives you an irritated look and reminds you that he is most certainly not cute at all unless it's useful. *shakes head* Honestly. He might well drown her in it when he gets her back.

Re: ooc

[identity profile] notquiteadoctor.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
She's still waiting to make sure of that....

(LOL. *is evil hushpuppy enabler?*) *pats him on the head, offers him the vampire as a pet?* *snorts* She wants to know if he'll resucitate her afterwards?

Re: ooc

[identity profile] thecricketer.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
He hopes they manage to prove it to her without putting her through anything particularly traumatising. Not that...they would.

(*pouts at you as has none, so settles for potato chips*) He's scowl but got distracted by the offer. "Brilliant, and attack dog. ...Hmm, he's pretty." *nods* He crosses his hearts.

Re: ooc

[identity profile] notquiteadoctor.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
She points out she's been transported to the moon, attacked by a witch and kidnapped and she's only known him a couple of days and wonders just how he defines traumatising? Not that she is, but. You know.

(Bah. I stopped at Long John Silver's on way back from doctor? As they and fries are all I can eat there pretty much....lol) He is pretty, if sort of useless, yes. *nods* But pretty.

*smacks Melissa* She doesn't seem to mind then?

Re: ooc

[identity profile] thecricketer.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
He admits that those are fairly normal days, really, and warns against becoming possesed.

Evil!Five thinks he can whip him into shape.

Then he glares at you for smacking his companion. ;p

Re: ooc

[identity profile] notquiteadoctor.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
She facepalms. A lot.

HEE! He probably could, if anyone could. Methos pouts about him being taken away, but apparently Fred said no vampires in the house who don't have souls.

*sticks tongue out at him*

Re: ooc

[identity profile] thecricketer.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
He shrugs, sheepishly, and says more seriously that he really will do his best to keep her safe.

*snickers* Good on Fred for putting her foot down! Evil!Five says he can visit if he wants.

Re: ooc

[identity profile] notquiteadoctor.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
She does believe that last part. *nods*

Methos bounced. *now I facepalm a lot*

Re: ooc

[identity profile] thecricketer.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
He's very glad of that, and thinks she must make a marvelous travelling companion. He also says that is slapping is strictly neccesary - *whap*

*does not giggle at all, really* Evil!Five is beaming. Rather wickedly.

Re: ooc

[identity profile] notquiteadoctor.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Awwww... She beamed. And is confused by the slapping? *g*

*purrs, err, I mean, um, glares at the beaming and whaps Methos?*
